What you'll need

Creating the Installation Media

On your ChromeOS device

  1. Format your USB stick/flash drive
    1. Use the Files Application that comes preinstalled with ChromeOS.
    2. Right-click the USB stick/flash drive and select Format device.
    3. Leave the Drive name blank and set the Format to FAT32
    4. Click Erase and Format
  2. Copy the Zip contents from within CMOS to the root directory of your USB stick/flash drive.
  3. Split the contents of the Windows Disk Image with the File Splitter, and save them to the root directory of your USB stick/flash drive.
    1. Tip: You can change your default save location in Chrome to be the root directory of your USB stick/flash drive.
      1. Navigate to chrome://settings/downloads within Chrome to access these Downloads settings.
  4. Double check you created your USB properly
    1. Note: Duplicate files (files with (x), ie. (1) in filename) will break the process!

    2. The following is a directory listing of a proper and valid USB. Use this as a reference.

On your soon-to-be Windows device

  1. Plug the USB stick/flash drive into your soon-to-be Windows device
  2. Boot to the USB stick/flash drive
  3. If you are prompted to Enroll Hash, select loader.efi
    1. If necessary disable Secure Boot to bypass the HashTool
  4. Sit back and relax as CMOS finalizes your Windows Installation Media
  5. Once complete CMOS will automatically restart your PC
